GENERAL INFO ABOUT MAINTAINING YOUR SPA

Your spa or hot tub is an investment in relaxation. Following these simple steps will assure you of enjoying your spa or hot tub to the fullest.

Circulating and Filtrating Your Spa
It is important to circulate your spa water everyday for at least 4 hours. Additionally, it is a good idea to clean your spa filter at least once a month and replace it every 8 to 12 months. If your filter isn't clean, it can't properly clean the water.

Cleaning Your Spa
Using your spa leaves behind perspiration, cosmetics, and body oils. This can cause a scum line (don't make faces, it is from your body) to build up on the edges of your spa at the water level. This can be easily cleaned off with a mild cleanser.
Any dirt or debris in your spa can be easily removed by a spa vacuum. And remember—don't forget to empty your skimmer basket!

Proper Chemical Care
The warm spa environment encourages bacteria and algae growth. Proper chemical treatment is important in protecting your spa surfaces and most importantly, the people who use the spa. See WATER CHEMISTRY for more information.

Test Your Spa Water
If you test your water regularly, you will be able to detect and avoid those nasty problems that prevent you from using your spa and cost you money to fix. You should test your spa water at least twice a week. Once a month, you should take 1 quart of water to a pool professional for a complete spa water analysis, and then follow the instructions to balance your spa water.

Draining and Refilling
Depending on how large your spa is and how often you use it, the water will eventually need to be drained and refilled. You can usually tell when it is time to drain the spa because the water will start to look, feel, and smell bad. Most professionals recommend changing the water at least every 3 months.
